Hiring a remote WordPress developer: scope, quote and handover checklist

A practical brief for business owners comparing website proposals: define deliverables, responsibilities and acceptance checks before choosing a developer.

Write a brief that can be quoted

Start with your business, audience and the action visitors should take. List the pages, languages and content you already have. For an existing site, share its public link and describe the problem rather than sending administrator credentials in the first message.

Separate essential launch requirements from later additions. A company website, a WooCommerce store and ongoing maintenance have different scopes. If you need Arabic and English, include translation ownership and mobile RTL checks in the brief.

Compare deliverables, not only the total

Ask each developer to specify the page count, platform, theme or plugin dependencies, content entry, integrations and revision boundaries. Record who purchases and renews any paid licenses, hosting or domain.

Ask what is excluded: copywriting, translation, product photography, bulk imports, payment-provider approval or continuing support. A clear exclusion is useful for comparing offers and preventing unexpected work.

Use relevant work as evidence

Look at real project pages and ask what the developer actually delivered. Review the mobile layout, navigation and contact journey. A portfolio example demonstrates a scope of work; it does not by itself prove a revenue increase or a search ranking.

Mohammed Ayman works remotely from Ismailia, Egypt, with three years of remote experience across web development and IT operations. The portfolio includes business and pharmacy website projects. Discuss the relevant responsibilities and current requirements before agreeing the scope.

Agree how the website will be accepted

Create a checklist covering the agreed pages, links, language switching, mobile layouts and forms. Test email delivery separately from a form success message. For stores, agree a supported payment test environment and check shipping, order notifications and stock changes.

Request a backup and a handover covering site ownership, access, licenses, updates and rollback. Agree any support period and response expectations in writing; do not assume maintenance or unlimited revisions are included.

Send a useful first enquiry

Send your website link or business description, the service you need, required languages and integrations, and your preferred budget range and timing if known. Mark timing as a preference until availability and scope are confirmed.

Use the WordPress service or contact page below to discuss your project with Mohammed. The enquiry starts a scope discussion; it is not a fixed-price offer or a delivery commitment.
